2 single player map. Your an oss agent who's cover has been blown! You must fight your way through the city and make your way to tunnel 17!
Review:
I Just decide to get to modonline this we to see if there was no new map in their database and hopefully for us there was... to 'out of grave map from Briant that were release at the end of 2007.
Like other map from Briant it's not perfect but it's another fun to play through map with correct design and good scripting.
Design: the experience take place in Italy where you first aim is to travel through a typical street of Sicily where german are waiting for you...the design is soft and well balance sadly it looks a little to squary and flat second mission will start with the sewer access where the invironment is a succession of machine, pipes and hallways that look more realisitic than the first part even if lots of room are mission details to create a cool ambiance. I just eccounter some flashing effect while I was progressing as if the compiling process has caused some vertice bug... hopefully it doesn't affect to much the gameplay.
Gameplay like for all previous releases from gunrock is perfectly manage in a squad oriented progression. It's Linear and doesn't feature any puzzle objective but ambushes mostly in the sewer part awaits you to give you enough challenge, the only aim is to get out of tunnel 17. The ambiance is ok but misses more sounds and a use of reenforcement in several places would have create a more immersing experience.
In conlcusion: It seems that several map from Briant are still hanging here and there...Design is just a little above average and scrpipting is well handled sadly making a realisation not enough challenging (like all other release from the auhtor) just makes the experience too short... it's still enjoyable and recommended for a short playtime.

The Bunker(s) for COD
As a resume here is an abstract of M Pankratz site:
"Bunker is a Call of Duty level created in the level design class as one of our exams. Our parameters were: The player would travel upwards through 3-4 rooms (not including hallways) and then escape the bunker and exit into a field. We were not allowed to use a script file, so that ruled out most interaction and smart AI. We had one week to create the entire level and populate it."
It has to be mentioned that not all students make there maps available through the Net but they will at least be listed here for the one playable and that give a playable 'short' experience a small review will be add

this one is certainly the hugest the team is for me not really linked to simply a bunker but is more massive and looks more like a Industrial base protected by a bunker. Design is for me classic with a correct layout but misses a better attention to detail. Gameplay is standard with no surpise (logic since it wasn't ask to be scripted) but produce a correct enjoyment for arround 15 minutes.
In conclusion: a non classic bunker with correct layout and enjoyable gameplay

Like the author explain this map was fastly build with for the time he spend a highly enjoyable layout through the color choice and the attention to detail. you will only visit a succession of 3 rooms nicely textured and fool of WW2 atmosphere. Gameplay is a simple seek and destroy progression enhance by the first room were you need to search for something...for arround 10 minutes of gameplay it's fairly enjoyable.
In conclusion: not the shortest but for sure the best in atmosphere according the realisation of a bunker.

The documentation that came with this one is impressive regarding the 2d sheet of this bunker; regarding the design of it, it's way more classic and even if the layout is correct this tiny realisation won't take you more than 5 minutes to be completed the outdoor layout is quite enjoyable and can be considered as a reward when you end you really short mission.
In conclusion: a good mix bewteen design and gameplay but certainly to short (5 minutes) to be really appreciated, It's still worth the download

Hedgerow siege
Story:
No real story it's just a mission close to the end of the war after the D-day. You and your squad will need to take back and hold a little town called Angoville in Normandy
Review:
Like the author tells in the readme (that has been integrated in the .iwd folder) this one is it's third release and in my opinion is a good improvement from what he did before.
Design is ok, it's done in what we can consider as a small village quite spread over a huge farming landfield. the terrain isn' not to flat and all visited houses are well squaled and look quite realistic. the way bushes, wall's and all those stuff make you progress in a linear way was also correctly handled...realism was perhaps the little things that botter me a little: artificial obstacle in the field tractor machine in an open field during bombing doesn't really make sense... the trench was also a little out of context but appart from those minor issues I may say it was correctly builded up in a dark cloudy evening.
Gameplay is intense with lot's of ambushes good enemies respawning . Everything is well balanced using good but short handled objectives, the squadron play mission also add a more intense experience especially regarding the field mission where you need to reach a far away objective under heavy fire...
You progression is mostly straight forward but the team experience make it more realistic. the battles are always well handled and make me compare this to preview really good release as Leningrad, StLamaire and Eastyork.
In conclusion: This third release from soulwax was a quite enjoyable and intense one . Even if the way the general design was made could be improve, the way soulwax manage to script this entire mission was a really good surpise and even if it could suffer from minor design issues, the experience is well worth the download.

Moabit for cod
This one is based on the destroyed city of Berlin during the last days of war. It's an intense experience in a highly destroyed city where the only aim is to get to a certain place take a trophy and come back to the start position...
Design even if representing from the first eye looking a well designed destroy city is far away to be realistic at all...Looking to the real city of Berlin even if it was totally destroyed was build arround main road that you cannot see here the organisation of the combat is set as a maze progression is quite flatty (where did all those colapsing walls disapears?) and misses certainly also an approach not only limited to a cave (not really realistic...how did those box arrived there) but more on undistroyed floor.
Gameplay is stray forward in a maze searching with tons of ambushes from a really huge squadron (over 120 german soldiers) respowning from everywhere without any logic...gameplay is quite intense to even frustrating when you get killed from a place you just 'cleaned' 10 seconds before. The only aim is to get a relic 'german gold eagle' and get back to the starting point. Hopefully getting some more powerfull weapon with progression especially fg40 make it in some place a little bit fun...
In conlcusion: On a first eye looking (screen above) this map look quite correctly design and could produce a enjoyable entertainment. thorugh overuse of enemies and the way so seems to be canalized in a unrealistic maze can easaly turn to experience to a huge doses of frustration...If you have playing nothing for age according WWII and if you want really a huge amount of enemies comming from everywhere then this one is for you.
